BILL BROWNE’S REPORT |
It is
with deep regret that I have heard over the radio
about the closing and demolishing of that
illustrious edifice, namely: The Hays Mews Lav. As a lover and connoisseur of urinals having left my mark in many, all over the Metropolis-I feel I am qualified to regret the passing of this friendly scented historic building. Who will ever regret, on passing through the grand hall, the delicate shade of green, broken only by the odd masses of rust? Memories will haunt me yet, of the yellow and brown marble, which one gazed at in fascination whilst holding forth. Mention must be made of the beautiful murals and writings. Surely these should be preserved for "posteriorty", e.g. "Joe Toff is a …" The mosaic floor had its own fascination, possibly due to the fact that it is the only floor continually under water! During the dark hours this establishment had a unique lighting system. The soft gentle glow which pervaded the area raised grave doubts in the minds of the visitors as to whether on was holding one’s own – or not. Let us raise our…. to the designer, that grand old Hungarian Havva Szlashh, may his name and all he stood for live, forever. Car Zadian |
The
main reason why we have so many Credit account
jobs, i.e. the transportation of films, parcels,
executives, is because the customers know that
they can be in constant communication with the
driver, in order, if need be, to alter
instructions or to give further messages to
passengers whilst in route. If you switch you
radio off or turn the volume right down you are
depriving the customer of this service, please
bear this fact in mind. I would like to express my
own personal admiration at the way so many drivers
answered the call for help by the Israel Embassy.
This must have meant a considerable amount of loss
or earnings, which, in itself, is a sacrifice in
this day and age.
There are many worthwhile causes in the world today and actions such as these are all the more commendable. Sincerely BILL BROWNE.
