CHRISTMAS LOGO DRAW WINNERS
Three drivers left Brunswick House on Wednesday December 16th with rather
large smiles on their faces - two left with rather sadder looks.
The happy three were John Tsang (T90) who won £1000, Terry Vandome (V26) who
won £500 and John Biddle (E56) - also a £500 winner. Call Sign wont give the call
signs of the two drivers whose names were first out of the hat. Neither had the new
logo on their doors and lost their chance to win £1000 - moving John into the £1000
position from £500 and bringing another two winners into the £500 position from nowhere.
One of the unlucky two went to Roman Way to have them fitted after the draw but Peter
Thurston is always aware of when the logo draw is made!
Speaking to Call Sign, £1000 winner John Tsang said that he had been on DaC
for over two years out of his three years as a cab driver. He came with a liveried cab but
put logos on after the first month when his contract expired. He had the
honour of having his logos fitted by Brian Rice. Whether a small brown
envelope will now change hands is a matter for conjecture! Not surprisingly, John said
that he was delighted with his win!
Terry Vandome has been on DaC for about seven years and has always had our
door logos.
"Im delighted to have won but regardless of prizes, I would always
have the current logo on my cab. They help promote the circuit and that must be a good
thing."
The third winner and also £500 richer, was John William Biddle - "named
after my granddad". He told Call Sign that he was delighted to have won and that he
had had the DaC logos on his doors for four years - "I had them fitted the last time
I had an argument with Peter Thurston at Roman Way!". John thought that the current
logo was more colourful and noticeable than the old one but gave the impression that he
preferred the previous one. But he went on to add that whichever logo presented the
corporate image should be the one that all drivers have regardless of whether they
preferred a previous one or not.
