DIAL-A-CAB FOOTBALL WHOOPS! WHATS GONE |
The March issue of Call
Sign gushed its praise on the DaC football team who had just successfully defeated
the top-of -the-league team Broadgate Celtic, to move to within just four points of the
lead in the Five-a-Side Lunchtime League. Since then - disaster! A severe dip in form - comparable perhaps only to that of the Premierships Aston Villa. And even they would beat us now! One draw and three defeats for a team that had only lost twice in its first 21 matches. It seems that thoughts of the Championship have now been thrown away. Our latest defeat was a 3-6 thrashing by Kleinwort Rangers. So what has gone wrong? After all, we had beaten the best and our recent opponents have all been mid-table or lower. Could it be over-confidence or, as DaCs Bradley McDonald says: "We have now become the team to beat. Teams playing us seem to treat the match as their Cup Final and pack their team with defenders. It has become difficult to break them down." According to semi-professional Dave Adelman: "There are still 13 matches to play and we must re-discover the winning formula and quickly." Dial-a-Cab play at Spittlefields every Friday - usually just after mid-day. They could use some vocal support. |
