Dial-a-Cab at the ITLA
|
|
Being members of the ITLA
(International Taxi & Livery Association), Brian Rice and Allen Togwell as Dial-a-Cab
(UK) representatives took the opportunity to attend a three day convention in New York.
Unlike Mountview and Computer Cab, DAC dont attend many of the ITLA conventions but
felt that we should attend this one as it concerned taxi data systems. DAC were at the previous ITLA convention held last July at the Langham Hilton in London where many first-time contacts were made (See September 97 Call Sign Ed). "Seeing and discussing different systems under one roof and being able to compare one with the other, is far more advantageous than travelling all over the World to see a single system" said Chairman Brian Rice. While there, both DAC representatives renewed some old acquaintances and made several new ones. The main subject of conversation with most of the different taxi operators was concerning the systems they were using. Two locally based operators gave Brian and Allan a tour of their premises. The DAC duo were especially interested to learn from one large taxi operator that his company were toying with the idea of real time bookings via the World Wide Web but as yet, hadnt progressed very far. |
Allan Togwell told Call Sign: "Like any short
visit to the States, no sooner are you getting over jet lag when it is back to London and
adjusting to the time difference here. At that moment, I felt as though my head and body
were 6.000 miles apart. However, there is no doubt in my mind that it was a very
worthwhile visit." |

SPECIAL CALL SIGN OFFER FREE OSTEOPATHIC CONSULTATIONS! |
|
One of the problems with cab
driving is the back ache that always seems to arrive at the most inconvenient of times!
Call Sign may be able to help you and at the same time help the fourth year students of
the British College of Naturopathy & Osteopathy (BCNO) which is based in Hampstead. Call Sign readers are being offered free osteopathic consultations on June 3rd, 4th, 5, 10th, 11th and 12th when the BCNOs fourth year students will be taking their final exams and any Call Sign reader with back pain, joint or muscular problems or sports injuries can get free osteopathic treatment on those days. All consultations will be under the strict supervision of fully qualified osteopaths and all students will have been treating patients for the last two years in the extensive clinics |
of the BCNO, so the quality of
the treatment and advice will be of the highest standard. These exams will be the last stages of a four-year degree course and the students will be on the verge of becoming fully qualified osteopaths. Private osteopaths can charge anything up to £50 per treatment. The BCNO and its clinics have been going since 1936 and is one of the UK's leading osteopathic colleges being the first to offer a BSc Hons in Osteopathic Medicine, so it is very well established! To take advantage of this special offer, telephone the BCNOs clinic on 0171 435 7830 for an appointment on one of the days mentioned above. Appointments will obviously be subject to availability. |
