From a slightly different angle
this month, Mediawatch shows once again how Dial-a-Cab are taken as the representatives of
the licensed cab trade. Whether it be a quote, a question needing an answer or just a
cartoon representation as did Blower in a recent Evening Standard, it all comes back to Dial-a-Cab. It started when the Daily Mirror published the rare sight of a British Monarch travelling inside a London Taxi. This particular Metrocab was the first to run on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and is much greener that the normal type of cab. It was then presented to HRH, The Duke of Edinburgh to replace his previous Metrocab which was about five years old. Then Blower, the Evening Standards brilliant cartoonist, felt that the opportunity for a topical drawing had arrived and it went out in the ES of May 8th. But who could he use as the taxi company on the side door? Silly question. Who else |

RUMOURS DEPARTMENTHave you heard of any good rumours involving Dial a Cab? If so, let Call sign have them and we will try to either substantiate them or tell you that they are untrue! This months rumour comes from a driver who told Allen Togwell that our new door logo was an exact copy of SBS in Singapore. Sorry, but that one is totally untrue and there is no resemblance at all. But that doesnt make it any less of a good rumour! Send your rumours to Call Sign |
