![]() Alan and Marilyn get Hitched 25 years ago. "I remember it like yesterday. Marilyn was shaking so much with nerves that I could hear her wedding dress rustling as she stood beside me in front of the rabbi. For a moment I thought it was her teeth chattering," Call Signs’ resident photographer, Alan Green (E52) said as he laughed down the phone relating the incident of 25 years ago, still very fresh in his mind! "It was 9 March 1980, so this year marks our Silver," he said. "Lord only knows how she’s put up with me for so long! Mind you, I don’t think her dad has fully forgiven me for sweeping his ‘little girl’ off her feet! Two children later and she’s still his baby," he chortled. |

![]() Alan Green at work for Call Sign "All those years ago together with some friends, I used to run a charity committee and we held regular disco’s in a house as part of our fund-raising activities. One particular Saturday night, the place was full of men and very few girls. Fellas were standing outside watching which girls were going into the dance. Suddenly two stunning ladies arrived on the door |
and we welcomed them in! To entice the outside crowd, I suggested that the girls go out through the back door, round the block and come in again to make the place look ‘girlier’! To my amazement, Marilyn and her friend agreed! Despite stumbling through a dark, overgrown garden, they came back indoors a second time and I decided right there that anyone with that much sense of fun was for me! It just took off from there," he said with a smile. To get the lowdown on who is the boss of the Green household, we asked Marilyn for her thoughts on how to keep a marriage lasting so long. She began decisively: "Well, it’s a lot of give and take," she said, "I give a lot and he takes it! Seriously though, we discuss major issues and work things out," she added. The couple have two children, Zara 21 and Jason 16. Congratulations from all at Call Sign… |

The response to my little firm’s
gamble in booking trade space at the ‘Premier Expo’
in Dublin last month has been overwhelming! It seems
that the Irish have equity and disposable income to
invent in property overseas, and where better than
the South of France? We took bookings for our ‘property search’ trips by the shed loads and for those Dial-a-Cab subscribers / Call Sign readers who have booked in advance for Easter, it is just as well really! We were pleasantly surprised by the response we received to our little stand advertising property searches and holiday lettings on the Med, but according to an independent report I read in |
![]() the Irish Times, Dubliners are set to spend over 500 million euros on overseas property in 2005 - the Republic of Ireland having the third fastest growing economy in the world. By comparison this year, the French Property Show at Olympia seemed rather ‘flat’, odd really, as there are still many a bargain to be had ‘down south’. Perhaps the fact that low cost airlines are now flying direct to |
airports near the Spanish
border from Dublin, increases their enthusiasm? We have managed to negotiate some preferential rates from the owners of the properties we manage, be it a self-catering village house or a villa with pool, so check out our website www.housemartins-herault.com for details if you fancy a break from this London weather. By the way, as an Englishman living and working in France, I’m backing the London Olympic bid for 2012, but Ken, keep your gob shut mate! Bob
