ROY ELLIS VISITS DIAL-A-CAB |
A welcome visitor to Brunswick House
recently was Roy Ellis, Head of the Public Carriage Office.
While greeting Mr Ellis, Dial-a-Cab Chairman Brian Rice explained that
the building was not looking its best during our refurbishment program.
Grinning broadly, Roy said he felt quite at home with the organised
chaos reminding him of the PCO ‘refit’ of not long ago. He also remarked
how nice our ‘overhaul’ would be when it was completed!
Call Sign’s reporter, thinking that Brunswick House was due a
‘quarterly inspection’ - and who better to conduct such a check than the
top man himself - asked Mr Ellis why he had chosen to appear at this
time?
"From the PCO viewpoint, I like to get out and meet members of the
taxi industry, discuss trends, see and hear what’s going on and
generally gauge opinions from those at the sharp end of the Trade. I
cannot do that from my office. Anyway, I know I’m always welcome here
and that Jacqui makes an excellent cup of coffee!" he said with a
twinkle in his eye.
With the noise of drilling and hammering still resounding off the
walls, our journo withdrew to the relative calm of the staff canteen…

IT’S ALL GREEK TO US – PART 2 |
Last month’s Call Sign published a short
extract from the Greek journal TAXI, which appeared to mention DaC
Chairman Brian Rice. Unfortunately, there was no one at Call Sign at the
time that understood Greek.
This month, TAXI went one step further and published Brian’s photo
alongside a London bus and taxi. Whether the suggestion was that DaC
were about to take over Transport for London, we had not a clue. If you
know better, perhaps you could let us know!
