DaC In Finals of 2003 ECommerce Awards | ||
October 8 at
London’s Grosvenor House Hotel saw Dial-a-Cab get the long
overdue notice that our advanced technology deserves.
Representing us at the Fifth Ecommerce National Award ceremony
was Chairman Brian Rice and so prestigious are these awards
that only one ticket per company is allowed! UK Online, a partnership between Industry and Government promoting the use of information and communication technologies to small companies, together with InterForum, a non-profit membership organisation that helps British businesses trade electronically, ran the 2003 awards. They were sponsored nationally by Cisco Systems, the Royal Bank of Scotland Group and national media sponsor The Sunday Times Enterprise Network. The awards have been |

fewer than 250 employees based in England,
Wales or Northern Ireland. A total of almost 3000 companies
were put forward for the awards with DaC being placed in the Mobile
and Wireless Technology group. Although we didn’t win –
that honour was reserved for Response Maintenance and Building
Services – we finished in 8th position, an
amazing result considering that we were one of 3000! It was DaC however who raised the biggest smile of an evening that needed one. Prize presenter Declan Curry from BBC1’s morning TV City News desk read out our name as a "special mention." All those on Brian Rice’s table let out a cheer. Declan then laughed and in a gentle poke at the radio taxi industry said: "You obviously turn up occasionally!" One wag then called out: "They are more reliable than your City forecasts!" |
