When tendering for the Westminster Children home-to-school contract, it was in
fact one of three separate tenders we were bidding for. As you know, we failed
with our bid for the home-to-school contract, however we were successful with
the other two, namely the Westminster Social & Community Services contract
and General Passenger Courier services contract, both of which commence on the
1st Sept 2001 and run for a period of 2 years and 7 months. The Westminster
TaxiCard contract that we presently service also has a further 2 years and 7
months to run.
At the time of writing, I have just received confirmation from
Virgin Trains that our bid for the Euston late night service contract,
including an increase in the mileage rate and waiting time was successful. The
commencement date was 1st August and will run for a period of 2 years, details
of increased charges can be obtained from the marshals.
I have also had confirmation of

Wasserstein and ourselves to supply a taxi service for a period of two
years. The agreement we have with DKW is to supply a joint taxi service
with ComCab.
I would like to emphasis that neither circuit is a sub-contractor of each
other and each company will be responsible for their own bookings. Exactly
how much business we will generate, will of course be dependant on our
quality of service. I'm stating the obvious, but the areas I refer to
include: in-house technology, manner and ability of our call centre staff;
cabs arriving at the pick-up address at the time required - no more than
the agreed run-in charge showing on the meter - a cab in clean condition
at all times - drivers being of presentable appearance,

courteous and helpful, drivers who do not smoke whilst the
cab is occupied or drive one handed
whilst using a mobile phone and last but not least, retaliating. As
difficult as it sometimes is, silence is the safest option.
At the time of writing, no decision has yet been made
with
regards the Goldman Sachs tender although we are now servicing J.P.Morgan.
Needless to say, it is important that we continue to supply the highest
level of service to all accounts at all times, even more so when they are
deliberating as to their choice of taxi supplier.
Amongst the various new business tenders we have been bidding
for during the past few months, one has been for Shell International Ltd
at York Road SE1. It is gratifying to announce we have been successful
with our bid, particularly as it was achieved without resorting to
predatory cost cutting methods. There is still a considerable amount
of work to be done getting this account on line and we will inform you
with further details nearer the live date. The tender was for 5 years.
